Party time for a great lo­cal cause

HUN­DREDS of peo­ple turned out to cel­e­brate the Royal Wed­ding at a street party on Crosby Road, Birk­dale, on Satur­day.

The sun shone brightly as crowds flocked to the fifth such street party to be held on what has been called ‘Bri­tain’s most royal road’.

Pre­vi­ous events have been at­tended by up to 800 guests and once fea­tured a visit from the Hairy Bik­ers.

Bunt­ing and flags were again out in force as the pub­lic cel­e­brated the mar­riage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The event was held for a good cause and raised a toal of £915 for the South­port Com­mu­nity First Re­spon­der Team – a group of vol­un­teers who are trained to pro­vide emer­gency care in the vi­tal mo­ments be­fore am­bu­lance crews can ar­rive.

Vol­un­teers are be­ing sought to join the team, with all train­ing pro­vided to those who are will­ing to of­fer their time.

Speak­ing af­ter the event, or­gan­iser Jonathan Cun­ning­ham said: “What a fan­tas­tic day! I’d like to say a huge thank-you to ev­ery­one who came on the day and who helped a fan­tas­tic cause.”
