Party time for a great local cause
HUNDREDS of people turned out to celebrate the Royal Wedding at a street party on Crosby Road, Birkdale, on Saturday.
The sun shone brightly as crowds flocked to the fifth such street party to be held on what has been called ‘Britain’s most royal road’.
Previous events have been attended by up to 800 guests and once featured a visit from the Hairy Bikers.
Bunting and flags were again out in force as the public celebrated the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The event was held for a good cause and raised a toal of £915 for the Southport Community First Responder Team – a group of volunteers who are trained to provide emergency care in the vital moments before ambulance crews can arrive.
Volunteers are being sought to join the team, with all training provided to those who are willing to offer their time.
Speaking after the event, organiser Jonathan Cunningham said: “What a fantastic day! I’d like to say a huge thank-you to everyone who came on the day and who helped a fantastic cause.”
