BRADLEY YATES smashed his second ton of the season to send Southport & Birkdale top with a 25-point win at Burscough.

Yates’s unbeaten 111 – supported by 50 from Alex Trimboli – set up a total of 241-5, which the hosts never looked like reaching.

They dug in – Alan Murray’s 51 the highlight – but Gary Keedy’s 5-26 made sure of the win, by 107 runs.

Orrell Red Triangle drop to second despite successfully defending 91 against Fleetwood Hesketh, who were skittled for 60 having been 27 without loss.

Another lowscoring game at Aigburth saw Sefton Park win their derby clash against Liverpool by three wickets.

Daniel Kelly was the star with the ball, taking 6-28. Peter Kelly threatened to spoil the party, with 6-35, but Park got over the line.

Ainsdale’s Sam White took 5-20 to set up their nine-wicket win over Newton-leWillows.

Mark Lucas finished on 51 as the victory was wrapped up inside 18 overs.

Prestatyn beat Birkenhead Park by five wickets after Peter Cassidy’s 5-23 restricted the hosts to 114 – it would have been less without some biffing from number 10 Alex Harris, who made 40.

And Wigan’s 243-7 – in which John Richardson scored 92, and Charles Taylor 59 not out – was too much for Wavertree, who fell short by 42 runs despite Josh Birch’s 55.
