Rush-hour crash blocks bypass
COMMUTERS between Southport and Liverpool suffered hour-long delays after a rush hour crash on Friday morning.
Emergency services closed the southbound lane of the Formby Bypass when a Hyundai and a Ford Mondeo collided at about 7.50am.
Glass and debris were scattered across the road and both cars sustained heavy damage after the Ford hit the back of the Hyundai, which was a private hire vehicle.
Traffic problems were worsened when a double decker bus broke down along a diversion route set up during the road closure.
A North West Ambulance Service spokesman said that one person was taken to Southport Hospital but was not believed to have suffered serious injuries.
