Chance to discover what goes on at your hospital
LOCAL residents are invited to Southport and Formby District General Hospital for its behindthe-scenes Open Day.
The event will take place on Saturday, September 8, between 11am and 4pm,
Visitors will see how staff would deal with a major emergency, can ask experts about a range of health issues, visit the theatres, enjoy a range of complimentary therapies or even try Tai Chi.
Stands staffed by experts will cover dementia, cancer, alcohol misuse, emergency care, maternity, physiotherapy and much more.
Visitors will enjoy free parking, and should make their way to the rear of the hospital, to the North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre.
The annual general meeting will also be taking place in this unit, in the MDT room from noon to 1pm.
All members of the public are welcome to attend.
At 11am, the new Gar- den of Reflection will be officially opened and again, all are welcome.
The garden has been created with help from local charities, and creates a quiet space for patients, families and staff to enjoy.
Director of Strategy, Therese Patten, said: “The Open Day is a chance for us to meet the local community in a fun and relaxed setting.
“Often we only see people when they are unwell, or worried about loved ones.
“The Open Day will give us the chance to talk about our services and show off some of the great improvements which have taken place at the hospital this year.
“We look forward to welcoming as many local people as possible!”
