BURSCOUGH Heritage Group’s October meeting takes place on Monday, October 15, at 7.30pm. The theme is: What did Ormskirk do for the evacuees in WWII? During WWII, to avoid the bombings of Liverpool, children were evacuated into the surrounding countryside and towns – and Ormskirk was one of these. In 2005, Roger Blaxall while working for charity, The Dark Horse Venture, organised a reunion in Ormskirk of 65 Liverpool evacuees. Roger Blaxall has many stories to recount, with pictures and artefacts to help explain what life was like for the evacuees. Everyone is welcome to come along to the monthly history meeting at The Blue Mallard, on Burscough Wharf. Entrance is by £2 voluntary donation to the Heritage Group.
