Train show fun for all the family
FOLLOWING the recent celebration of the 170th anniversary of the Liverpool Crosby and Southport Railway and the clubhouse, members of Southport Model Railway Club are preparing for their Family Train show, taking place on Saturday, November 10 from 10am to 5pm at All Saints Church Hall, Park Road.
It is £4 per person for adults and £2.50 for children with a family ticket for two adults and two children costing just £9.
Sales stands will sell items for collectors and Christmas stocking gifts and the café will offer refreshments at reasonable prices.
Austin from Windmill Farm will be bringing his massive layout with its big, big trains including Christmas specials.
There will also be a number of layouts demonstrating Christmas past, including models by Bassett Lowke, Phil Delnon’s Hornby Dublo and Keith Hick’s Twix Twin.
Stan Williams will be bringing a little bit of North Wales with him in the form of his Llanrug and Bethel line and Southport member, Derek Pratt, will run his live steam circular Walmer Bridge layout, The Southport club itself will present the Clairmont Wharf and Shell Cove layouts.
Immediately after the show, on Wednesday, November 14, the club will host John Ryan with his talk on the Merseyrail Link and Loop scheme, illustrated with slides taken whilst he worked as liaison engineer on the project 40 years ago.
