Train show fun for all the fam­ily

FOL­LOW­ING the re­cent cel­e­bra­tion of the 170th an­niver­sary of the Liver­pool Crosby and South­port Rail­way and the club­house, mem­bers of South­port Model Rail­way Club are pre­par­ing for their Fam­ily Train show, tak­ing place on Satur­day, No­vem­ber 10 from 10am to 5pm at All Saints Church Hall, Park Road.

It is £4 per per­son for adults and £2.50 for chil­dren with a fam­ily ticket for two adults and two chil­dren cost­ing just £9.

Sales stands will sell items for col­lec­tors and Christ­mas stock­ing gifts and the café will of­fer re­fresh­ments at rea­son­able prices.

Austin from Wind­mill Farm will be bring­ing his mas­sive lay­out with its big, big trains in­clud­ing Christ­mas spe­cials.

There will also be a num­ber of lay­outs demon­strat­ing Christ­mas past, in­clud­ing mod­els by Bas­sett Lowke, Phil Del­non’s Hornby Dublo and Keith Hick’s Twix Twin.

Stan Wil­liams will be bring­ing a lit­tle bit of North Wales with him in the form of his Llan­rug and Bethel line and South­port mem­ber, Derek Pratt, will run his live steam cir­cu­lar Walmer Bridge lay­out, The South­port club it­self will present the Clair­mont Wharf and Shell Cove lay­outs.

Im­me­di­ately af­ter the show, on Wed­nes­day, No­vem­ber 14, the club will host John Ryan with his talk on the Merseyrail Link and Loop scheme, il­lus­trated with slides taken whilst he worked as li­ai­son en­gi­neer on the project 40 years ago.
