Greenbank is top of table in schools guide
GREENBANK High School has been named the top school in Sefton by our Real Schools Guide 2020.
The all girls’ school on Hastings Road in Birkdale was followed by Formby High in second place and Range High School in third.
The Real Schools Guide 2020, compiled by Reach’s data unit, aims to give a far more comprehensive picture than traditional league tables.
It takes into account 51 different data points – including not just GCSE results and Attainment 8 scores but also factors such as Progress 8, pupilteacher ratios and absence rates.
Greenbank High has not been inspected by Ofsted since becoming an academy, but was rated “outstanding” when it was last assessed by the watchdog in 2010.
The school motto is “inspire, care, achieve” and according to the school’s website it achieves “consistently high academic performance” for students of all abilities.
Ian Raikes, the executive head teacher of Greenbank High and Southport Learning Trust, said: “We are extremely proud of our school community for being named in The Real Schools Guide 2020 as the top school in Sefton.

The Real Schools Guide, which is now in its eighth year, has been praised by ministers and education experts.
