It’s a word you may have come across during your exploration into the spiritual world, but what exactly is a lightworker and could you, in fact, be one? Although the word conjures images of ancient winged beings, it actually relates to people walking among us here and now – even you!

You don’t need to go on a course to become a lightworker, it’s just a term to describe someone whose mission is to assist people along their spiritual path and make the world a better place.

To become a lightworker is a decision a person makes before birth and, once here on earth, they receive messages from angels, ascended masters or spirit mentors to help them achieve that goal.

‘Lightworkers are divinely guided people who come in all shapes, sizes and forms so that the right messages get delivered to the right people,’ explains Sarah Prout, author and creator of the

Manifesting Academy.

'They know the importance of spiritual values and incorporating them into everyday life, and understand that having a pure heart and performing acts of generosity, justice and peace are life’s priorities. To them kindness and healing is a key duty.'

Does this resonate with you? Read on to discover if you could be a lightworker.

1 LIGHTWORKERS HELP AND HEAL

You may work as a carer, teacher, counsellor or volunteer, and people often say you have an old head on young shoulders.

2 YOU HAVE A CLOSE CONNECTION TO YOUR SPIRIT GUIDES

Everyone has a guide they can call upon for wisdom and help and lightworkers work closely with theirs. If you’re not already doing so, speak to them and state that you’re ready to receive their messages.

REMEMBER: Lightworkers are excellent at channeling messages from Spirit and tuning into their higher consciousness.

3 LIGHTWORKERS BELIEVE IN BEINGS FROM HIGHER REALMS

You understand that different beings, such as angels or ascended masters dwell at different energetic frequencies and that these can be tapped into through meditation, visualisation and psychic work to assist people on their journey.

REMEMBER: There is so much more to believe in than what we can see.

4 LIGHTWORKERS ARE COMMITTED TO PERSONAL GROWTH

Many lightworkers have suffered loss, sadness, illness or depression so they can teach others how to navigate through difficult times. However, you are aware of the process and work through it for the greater good.

REMEMBER: Lightworkers understand that nothing they experience happens without their permission. Divine timing never gets it wrong.

5 YOU SEE SYNCHRONICITIES

You may have thought they were coincidences – overhearing the title of a book several times in one week, for instance. This, however, is Spirit guiding you towards a lesson you need to learn or a person you need to help.

REMEMBER: Coincidences are messages to guide you.

6 YOU'RE A POWERFUL MANIFESTOR

A firm believer in the Law of Attraction, you find that what you wish for usually becomes a reality.

REMEMBER: Spirit is helping your dreams materialise, through them you will help many.

7 YOU FEEL HAPPY BEING ALONE

Your work helping and guiding others can leave you needing time alone. But you are happy with your own company, it gives you time to meditate and reflect.

REMEMBER: If you are feeling tired, it’s okay to take time out, converse with your Spirit guides and regroup.

8 YOU FEEL YOU DON'T BELONG

You can feel you don’t quite fit in with society or even your family. When faced with authority, you tend to rebel. This is because you are working for a higher purpose.

REMEMBER: You are different, but that’s what makes you a lightworker.
