Being aBLe to make conscious choices whilst dreaming is called ‘lucid’ dreaming and it usually requires some training or practice. It’s a wonderful skill to have. Most people don’t even realise when they are dreaming, and what happens in their dreams is entirely arbitrary. You seem to be able to naturally control what happens in your dreams, which means, yes, you are special because it is a rare gift.

When someone has this ability they can choose to dream about enjoyable and enlightening situations. If you want to have a lucid dream, meditate just before you go to sleep. Set your intention to experience something nice in your dream, such as flying over a beautiful landscape or being reunited with a loved one. If you wake during the night, immediately meditate on creating a happy or positive scene or meeting and you’ll continue that as a lucid dream when you fall back to sleep. Practice makes perfect!

Being able to control your dreams is a special talent
