The FIM, motor cycling’s world governing body, appointed World Sport Group, the Singapore-based sports marketing agency, in a long-term deal to exclusively sell media, sponsorship and licensing rights in Asia, Oceania and the Middle East. The Lagardère-owned agency signed a four-year deal to market the rights to events managed and promoted by the FIM, in an agreement that also includes the provision of management and co-ordination services for selected events in Asia (excluding Japan) and Oceania.
Mediaset, the Italian commercial broadcasting group, agreed a three-year broadcast rights deal with Infront Sports and Media, the Switzerlandbased international sports marketing agency, to show motor cycling’s eni FIM Superbike World Championship from 2013 onwards. The deal came hot on the heels of the announcement that Sky Italia, the Italian paytelevision broadcaster, would replace Mediaset as the Italian home of the top-tier MotoGP World Championship from 2014 onwards. Mediaset, which will broadcast the Superbike World Championship free to air on its Italia 1 channel, has an option to extend the deal for a further three seasons.
