Highland Spring, the Scottish bottled water brand, signed up to serve as an official supplier of golf’s Ryder Cup, the biennial team contest between Europe and USA, in 2014. The prestigious competition is taking place in Scotland for only the second time, with Gleneagles in Perthshire acting as host in September of next year. Under the deal with Ryder Cup Europe, Highland Spring, which is the UK’s leading bottled water brand and is based just five miles from the venue, will supply bottled water both on and off the course.
Bridgestone, the Japanese tyre manufacturer, extended its title sponsorship of the World Golf Championships event held at Akron in the US state of Ohio. The new four-year deal with the International Federation of PGA Tours runs until 2018, and agreement has been reached for Firestone Country Club to remain the host venue of the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational until the same year. Bridgestone also extended its official marketing partner relationship with the PGA Tour through 2018 and will remain the official tyre of the PGA Tour and Champions Tour.
Tiger Woods, the world’s number one golfer from USA, extended his endorsement deal with Nike, the US sportswear giant. Nike has supported Woods, the winner of 14 majors, since he turned professional in 1996 and this is the third time the partnership has been extended, following on from 2001 and 2006.
