The or­gan­is­ers of the open­ing stages of cycling’s 2014 Tour de France, to be held in Eng­land, ap­pointed Nicky Roche to lead the de­liv­ery of the event. Roche, who was di­rec­tor of op­er­a­tions in the UK govern­ment’s Olympic Ex­ec­u­tive for last year’s Lon­don Olympics and Par­a­lympics, will head up TdF 2014, the or­gan­is­ing com­mit­tee for the Grand Dé­part in York­shire and the third stage from Cam­bridge to Lon­don.

Simon Clegg, the for­mer chief ex­ec­u­tive of the Bri­tish Olympic As­so­ci­a­tion, was ap­pointed by

the Euro­pean Olympic Com­mit­tees to help de­liver the in­au­gu­ral Euro­pean Games in 2015. Clegg will serve as a se­nior Euro­pean Games con­sul­tant for the event, to be held in the Azer­bai­jan cap­i­tal Baku.
