En­ter the 2018 Di­a­mond Stan­dards cook­ery com­pe­ti­tion!

Te­flon has an­nounced the launch of its 2018 Di­a­mond Stan­dard Awards for ama­teur chefs of all ages; the Di­a­mond Stan­dard Awards com­pe­ti­tion was launched in 2012 and is a re­spected ini­tia­tive amongst in­dus­try lead­ers that recog­nises ex­cel­lence, sup­ports stu­dents in achiev­ing their goals of work­ing in the in­dus­try, and recog­nises non-pro­fes­sional home cooks.

There are three cat­e­gories of en­try: Keen Young Cooks (aged 12-16 years) to bake a favourite dish; As­pir­ing Stu­dent Chefs (aged 16-19 years) to cook a game-in­spired sig­na­ture dish; and Keen Home Cooks (aged 17 years and over) to cook their sig­na­ture clas­sic.

The win­ning stu­dent and young cook will re­ceive a pres­ti­gious three-year Spe­cialised Chefs Schol­ar­ship, while the home cook wins a be­spoke cook­ery week­end. In ad­di­tion to th­ese prizes, bun­dles of Te­flon non-stick coated cook­ware from the spon­sors are awarded, as well as cash prizes of up to £500.

A team of es­teemed judges chaired by Les­ley Wa­ters will choose their win­ners at the Waitrose Cook­ery School in London, at a na­tional cook-off in Jan­uary 2018.
