Double trouble... two heads are better than one!

Sporting Shooter - - Ask The Experts -

Q I can't hit the second target on a sim pair of clays. Can you help?

A WILL EDWARDS replies: I think you’re most likely lifting your head slightly off the stock to see if you’ve killed the first target, instead of keeping it firmly in place for the second. By doing this you're changing the point of impact. Try this: call for the first clay and shoot it, but don’t send the next clay from a different trap for five seconds. Once you have connected with these targets consistently I’d like you to reduce the time between releasing the second clay to four seconds, shoot another three pairs until you are doing so consistently, and keep this going until the pair are released together. Ensure your cheek is firmly glued to the stock and that your entire focus is on that second clay.
