From Staines to Am­s­ter­dam by bike – that’s wheel power

A TEAM of around 20 cy­clists from a bio­phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal com­pany in Staines has got on their bikes and cy­cled to Am­s­ter­dam to raise more than £8,500 for char­i­ties.

Bax­alta staff took on the four-day trek from April 28 on be­half of Car­ers Sup­port Spelthorne, Pan­cre­atic Can­cer UK and the Rarer Can­cers Foun­da­tion.

Ni­cole Farmer, manag­ing di­rec­tor of Bax­alta UK, said: “Last year we cy­cled from Staines to Paris and we wanted to go one bet­ter this year by in­creas­ing our dis­tance and end­ing in Am­s­ter­dam.

“Our vi­sion is to im­prove peo­ple’s lives so it was our plea­sure to sup­port two or­gan­i­sa­tions who help pa­tients with rare can­cers, as well as our lo­cal char­ity Car­ers Sup­port Spelthorne.”

Jac­qui Ma­cLean, par­ent car­ers ad­vi­sor at Car­ers Sup­port Spelthorne, said the money would be used to help it to con­tinue to make a dif­fer­ence in the com­mu­nity and also in help­ing car­ers con­tinue with their im­por­tant role.

She said: “Car­ers Sup­port Spelthorne re­ally ap­pre­ci­ates the team at Bax­alta for nom­i­nat­ing us and un­der­tak­ing the cy­cle ride.”

The Bax­alta cy­clists who rode to Am­s­ter­dam over four days to raise money for three im­por­tant char­i­ties.
