A TEAM of around 20 cyclists from a biopharmaceutical company in Staines has got on their bikes and cycled to Amsterdam to raise more than £8,500 for charities.
Baxalta staff took on the four-day trek from April 28 on behalf of Carers Support Spelthorne, Pancreatic Cancer UK and the Rarer Cancers Foundation.
Nicole Farmer, managing director of Baxalta UK, said: “Last year we cycled from Staines to Paris and we wanted to go one better this year by increasing our distance and ending in Amsterdam.
“Our vision is to improve people’s lives so it was our pleasure to support two organisations who help patients with rare cancers, as well as our local charity Carers Support Spelthorne.”
Jacqui MacLean, parent carers advisor at Carers Support Spelthorne, said the money would be used to help it to continue to make a difference in the community and also in helping carers continue with their important role.
She said: “Carers Support Spelthorne really appreciates the team at Baxalta for nominating us and undertaking the cycle ride.”
