Boys and girls win at the dou­ble

A STAINES school’s girls and boys football teams have both won their league ti­tles by go­ing through the sea­son un­de­feated.

Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School’s Year 5 and Year 6’s football teams won the Spelthorne Di­vi­sion 1 ti­tle af­ter win­ning all three of their games.

Ray Mor­gan, Year 5 teacher and PE co-or­di­na­tor, said it is the first time both sides have won the league in the same sea­son.

“It’s ex­cel­lent and a great achieve­ment,” he said.

“We are re­ally proud of all the boys and girls in­volved who are re­ally good role mod­els and have rep­re­sented the school re­ally well.”

Mr Mor­gan praised the girls’ team who, un­der the lead­er­ship of Ellen Roberts, won the league hav­ing only formed a few years ago.

“We re­ally had a de­mand [for a girls’ team] and wanted to of­fer as much as pos­si­ble to have the girls play­ing also,” he said.

“We now want to de­fend the ti­tle next year – well that’s the plan.”
