Woman’s bid to re­unite items found in an al­ley with owner

A WOMAN is try­ing to find the owner of dozens of pieces of sil­ver­ware found dumped in an al­ley in Sun­bury.

The haul, which in­cludes gob­lets, cut­lery and plates, was dis­cov­ered scat­tered all over the ground by a passer by in April.

Dawn Groves, 33, had been walk­ing back to her car through the ser­vice road be­hind the shops in Staines Road West at the time.

“I looked down in the rain and saw what looked like sil­ver­ware scat­tered across in front of me,” she said.

“You get bro­ken bot­tles and all sorts of rub­bish in that road but this didn’t seem right at all.

“I thought I can’t leave it all there. It just looked like some­one had stolen it all and re­alised it wasn’t proper sil­ver or was run­ning from the po­lice and dumped it.”

Miss Groves col­lected up the items in a bag and took them home be­fore call­ing the po­lice. Of­fi­cers ar­rived and col­lected the items, which in­cluded cake knives and tea spoons.
