Standards still high at Shepperton show
SHEPPERTON Horticultural Association’s 65th Annual Summer Show was held recently with exhibitors showing an array of beautiful flowers and voluptuous produce.
Although entries were slightly down this year because of an adverse start to the growing season, they were of a very high standard at the event in Shepperton Village Hall.
Joint show Pauline Nicks secretary said: “The show attracted a steady flow of visitors, many of whom meet each show for a cup of tea and cake with friends.
“The Summer Show is renowned for the scent of the sweet peas and the roses when you enter the hall. The children put on a splendid display, with almost a hundred entries and we would like to thank the parents who brought the entries along on Saturday morning. Having the children involved is important to the village.
“It was good to see new exhibitors winning awards and prize tickets in their first show and other regular exhibitors getting their first awards.”
She added the association was very grateful to their sponsors and particularly to Trio Pharmacy, who sponsor the Summer Show and present the awards.
The group’s next show is on Saturday September 3 and new members are exhibitors are very welcome.
