Tech firm ready for 1,100km relay
STAFF at the Camberley office of technology firm telent are preparing for a 1,100km relay around the UK to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
More than 220 telent employees will join the challenge by walking, running or cycling part of the route from July 11 to 15. Camberley is one of two starting points, from which challengers will make their way to telent’s headquarters in Warwick.
Colleagues will volunteer their time to plan the relay legs, set up pit- stops and support their workmates.
Mark Plato, chief executive of telent, said: “We’re very excited to be taking on this mammoth challenge. I’m pleased that so many staff, as well as some of our customers, are getting involved.
“Macmillan is an extremely important charity, as many of us have or will be affected by cancer in some way during our lives. We’ve set ourselves a target of £ 100,000 and we’re asking people to dig deep to support the charity’s ongoing efforts.”
Adam Nash, of Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “The company’s staff are really pushing themselves with their fundraising and we look forward to supporting them through this huge challenge.”
