Tech firm ready for 1,100km re­lay

STAFF at the Cam­ber­ley of­fice of tech­nol­ogy firm te­lent are pre­par­ing for a 1,100km re­lay around the UK to raise money for Macmil­lan Can­cer Sup­port.

More than 220 te­lent em­ploy­ees will join the chal­lenge by walk­ing, run­ning or cycling part of the route from July 11 to 15. Cam­ber­ley is one of two start­ing points, from which chal­lengers will make their way to te­lent’s head­quar­ters in Warwick.

Col­leagues will vol­un­teer their time to plan the re­lay legs, set up pit- stops and sup­port their work­mates.

Mark Plato, chief ex­ec­u­tive of te­lent, said: “We’re very ex­cited to be tak­ing on this mam­moth chal­lenge. I’m pleased that so many staff, as well as some of our cus­tomers, are get­ting in­volved.

“Macmil­lan is an ex­tremely im­por­tant char­ity, as many of us have or will be af­fected by can­cer in some way dur­ing our lives. We’ve set our­selves a tar­get of £ 100,000 and we’re ask­ing peo­ple to dig deep to sup­port the char­ity’s on­go­ing ef­forts.”

Adam Nash, of Macmil­lan Can­cer Sup­port, said: “The com­pany’s staff are re­ally push­ing them­selves with their fundrais­ing and we look for­ward to sup­port­ing them through this huge chal­lenge.”
