LIGHTWATER came to life on Saturday as the Lightwater Business Association ( LBA) held its first ‘ fair in the square’ of 2016.

The community event was opened by the Mayor of Surrey Heath, Councillor John Winterton, and boasted stalls run by businesses, clubs and charities selling locally produced food as well as craftwork items and gifts.

Visitors were treated to free food samples and a barbecue thanks to the support of Lightwater Co- operative Food. Entertainment was provided by youngsters from Rebekah’s Dance School in Lightwater.

LBA chairman Mike Loughton estimated that several hundred people visited. “We had good weather and a good selection of stalls,” he said. “The dancers were great and overall it went very well.”

LBA holds a ‘ fair in the square’ twice a year, in June and December. The winter fair, this year scheduled for Saturday, December 3, is a Christmas event with the participation of All Saints Church.

The association has been running for more than 20 years and represents more than 30 businesses. For more details, email info@ lightwaterbusiness. co. uk.
