THIEVES who cut their way into a builder’s outbuilding appear to have left emptyhanded, police have said.

However, officers are still investigating whether anything was taken from a large metal container. The force said the incident happened in Bottle Lane in Mattingley, near Hook, some time between 5pm on Saturday and 8.20am the following day.

The offenders drove from Bottle Lane through two sets of gates, cutting a heavy duty chain in order to get in. They gained entry to an outbuilding, which is being used by builders and a storage container.

“There is nothing missing from the barn but the offenders also gained entry to a large metal container, which is being used for storage,” said Hart district PC Natalie Gardner.
