Police warning after shed and garage raids on the same day in Upton Grey
RESIDENTS in rural Hart are being warned to be on their guard after break- ins at a garage and shed on the same day.
Residents of reported two police.
PC Andrew Reid asked for the public’s help after a large amount of garden equipment was stolen from a garage, and a lawnmower from a garden shed in the village.
He said the garage of a house in Upton Grey was broken into between 4.45pm and 6.45pm on Saturday January 14. A large amount of garden tools and equipment were stolen, including three chainsaws, two strimmers, two leafblowers and a hedge Upton Grey incidents to trimmer. The crime reference number is 44170017649.
PC Reid said between January 11 and 19, but ‘ most likely’ during the same day as the other crime, a Mountfield lawnmower was stolen from a garden shed in the village.

PC Reid added: “I am appealing for any information concerning either of these crimes. If you were in Upton Grey between these times and saw anything unusual, be it people, vehicles etc, please give me a call on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 and quote the above reference numbers.
“All information is treated in strictest confidence.”
PC Reid said that as spring approaches, people should make sure their outbuildings are secure and that they have good locks and alarms.
“We see an increase in garden sheds being broken into during this part of the year and the thefts of garden equipment,” he added.
“Please record serial numbers, scratch or mark your postcode on the machine, probably visible so it is more identifiable, and take a photograph of it just in case it is ever stolen.”
