THE Peach Pub Company, which runs The Richard Onslow in Cranleigh and The Chequers in Eversley Cross, has extended its foothold in the area by taking on The Duke of Wellington in East Horsley.
The independent, awardwinning gastro pub company, based in Oxfordshire, plans to refurbish the Guildford Road venue to “create a really good place for local people to enjoy”.
Peach partner Jordan Marr, who will be managing the pub, said: “We are excited about the Duke.
“We love meeting and getting to know new people and becoming part of the community. We are looking forward to making it a great gastro pub and a place for people to meet, eat, drink and call their own.
He added: “I’m really pleased to be here and taking on the pub. On a personal level, a favourite thing for me is when we move into a new pub and create a really good place for local people to enjoy, for special occasions as well as for every day.
He continued: “We want to create a real hub for people to go to, a focal point for the community as well as simply a place everyone can come to, any time.
“We’ll look forward to welcoming people whenever they visit.
“We’ll be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner here at The Duke of Wellington and can’t wait to meet everyone.”
The Peach Pub Company, which took over from The Star Pub Company, expects to reopen the site with a grand party in mid- February.
Jordan is also looking for new staff to join his team and there are front and back of house roles available.
