Septem­ber: The month to make new friends

A HOST OF EVENTS FROM THE ODDFELLOWS WILL PUT A BIG SMILE ON THE FACE

As part of their an­nual Friend­ship Month cam­paign, through­out Septem­ber the Oddfellows are host­ing spe­cial events for peo­ple to come to­gether lo­cally, have fun and try some­thing new.

Branch sec­re­tary Jane Ni­cole said: “Our Friend­ship Month cam­paign is in its eighth year. It’s our way of re­mind­ing peo­ple just how im­por­tant it is to have the sup­port of friends around you.

“They re­ally do make the good times bet­ter and the hard times eas­ier. Friend­ships of­ten start as a re­sult of shar­ing a fun ex­pe­ri­ence or by learn­ing some­thing to­gether, and our events pro­vide that op­por­tu­nity in a re­ally easy, re­laxed way.”

Here are some of the good­ies the Oddfellows have in store dur­ing their Friend­ship Month:

Fundrais­ing Cof­fee Morn­ing: Satur­day Septem­ber 2, 10am- noon at St Michael’s Church Hall in Lon­don Road, Cam­ber­ley.

Pop in for a slice of de­li­cious cake and fil­tered cof­fee.

Do­na­tions greatly ap­pre­ci­ated as all pro­ceeds go to Read­ing Fy­bromyal­gia Sup­port Group and Arthri­tis Mat­ters.

Who are the Oddfellows? Come and find out and en­joy an ar­ray of cheeses and a glass ( or two) of wine on Thurs­day Septem­ber 14, from 7pm at St Michael’s Church hall in Cam­ber­ley.

£ 2 for mem­bers, £ 4 guests.

To­gether for Tea ( drop in): Fri­day Septem­ber 22 from 2pm- 4pm.

The get- to­gether is ev­ery fourth Fri­day of the month at High Cross Church café, in Knoll Road, Cam­ber­ley.

Come and grab a drink and treat from the café and meet some of the regulars who can an­swer any ques­tions you might have about join­ing.

Friend­ship Month Tea Party: Sun­day Septem­ber 24 from 2pm- 5pm.

Spokesman Kris­ten Reid said: “We look for­ward to re­turn­ing to the Mer­cure Farn­ham Bush ho­tel in The Bor­ough, Farn­ham, for a clas­sic tiered dis­play of af­ter­noon tea. For cater­ing pur­poses, please book with Jane Ni­cole on 01276 66868 or 07951 814860.”

Costs: £ 8 for mem­bers, £ 13.45 for guests.

Kris­ten added: “We can’t wait to wel­come new faces at our fundrais­ing cof­fee morn­ing, in­for­ma­tive talk, cof­fee drop- in or tea party, as we know there’s noth­ing quite like shar­ing laughs and a cuppa, or wine, in good com­pany.”

The Oddfellows reg­u­larly get to­gether to en­joy so­cial events such as talks, trips out, lunches, cof­fee morn­ings and evening get- to­geth­ers.

They are also of­fer­ing a chance to win a Na­tional Trust day out and cream tea for two adults and up to three chil­dren, plus £ 100 spend­ing money in a free prize draw dur­ing Septem­ber.
