September: The month to make new friends
A HOST OF EVENTS FROM THE ODDFELLOWS WILL PUT A BIG SMILE ON THE FACE
As part of their annual Friendship Month campaign, throughout September the Oddfellows are hosting special events for people to come together locally, have fun and try something new.
Branch secretary Jane Nicole said: “Our Friendship Month campaign is in its eighth year. It’s our way of reminding people just how important it is to have the support of friends around you.
“They really do make the good times better and the hard times easier. Friendships often start as a result of sharing a fun experience or by learning something together, and our events provide that opportunity in a really easy, relaxed way.”
Here are some of the goodies the Oddfellows have in store during their Friendship Month:
Fundraising Coffee Morning: Saturday September 2, 10am- noon at St Michael’s Church Hall in London Road, Camberley.
Pop in for a slice of delicious cake and filtered coffee.
Donations greatly appreciated as all proceeds go to Reading Fybromyalgia Support Group and Arthritis Matters.
Who are the Oddfellows? Come and find out and enjoy an array of cheeses and a glass ( or two) of wine on Thursday September 14, from 7pm at St Michael’s Church hall in Camberley.
£ 2 for members, £ 4 guests.
Together for Tea ( drop in): Friday September 22 from 2pm- 4pm.
The get- together is every fourth Friday of the month at High Cross Church café, in Knoll Road, Camberley.
Come and grab a drink and treat from the café and meet some of the regulars who can answer any questions you might have about joining.
Friendship Month Tea Party: Sunday September 24 from 2pm- 5pm.
Spokesman Kristen Reid said: “We look forward to returning to the Mercure Farnham Bush hotel in The Borough, Farnham, for a classic tiered display of afternoon tea. For catering purposes, please book with Jane Nicole on 01276 66868 or 07951 814860.”
Costs: £ 8 for members, £ 13.45 for guests.
Kristen added: “We can’t wait to welcome new faces at our fundraising coffee morning, informative talk, coffee drop- in or tea party, as we know there’s nothing quite like sharing laughs and a cuppa, or wine, in good company.”
The Oddfellows regularly get together to enjoy social events such as talks, trips out, lunches, coffee mornings and evening get- togethers.
They are also offering a chance to win a National Trust day out and cream tea for two adults and up to three children, plus £ 100 spending money in a free prize draw during September.
