Progressive tennis club courts talent with ace summer camp
There is plenty going on during the summer at the club, which is currently having two of its courts resurfaced thanks to an award of £ 20,000 from The London Marathon Charitable Trust.
The upgrade, which is expected to be finished by the end of this month, will create all- weather courts allowing club members and the local community to enjoy better tennis facilities all year round.
Tennis club chairman Neil Dodge, said: “This investment is fantastic news for our players and local people.
“Club membership has grown significantly over the last couple of years.
“This grant is a tremendous help towards our long- term improvement plan and our commitment to ensuring we have top- class facilities for our players.”
The club plans to celebrate the re- opening of the resurfaced courts with a family fun day on Sunday October 8.
The tennis club, which covers Bagshot and its surrounding area, offers junior lessons for ages four to 18 that run during school terms.
There are nearly 150 juniors now playing at the club, many of them rising stars.
Emma Goodacre, one of the top- rated youngsters in Surrey, is coached by the Jet Tennis team of Jason Jokhoo and Megan Emmett.
She also trains regularly at the National Tennis Centre, where she recently met Andy Murray.
