Now On TV – DOC­TOR WHO Se­ries Nine Be­gins!

In pro­duc­tion since Jan­uary, the ninth se­ries of Doc­tor Who – the sec­ond star­ring Twelfth Doc­tor Peter Ca­paldi – has fi­nally be­gun trans­mis­sion on BBC One in the UK and on net­works all around the world. At the time of writ­ing, the ti­tles of sev­eral episodes of the twelve-week se­ries have yet to be re­vealed, but the new se­ries com­menced on Satur­day, Septem­ber 19th with The Ma­gi­cian’s Ap­pren­tice, writ­ten by cur­rent showrun­ner Steven Mof­fat. Many of the sto­ries this se­ries are two-part ad­ven­tures (or else with a sec­ond episode which is con­nected to the events and char­ac­ters from the first) and Mof­fat’s se­ries début is fol­lowed by its sec­ond in­stal­ment, The Witch’s Fa­mil­iar on Septem­ber 26th. The next two episodes are writ­ten by Toby ( Be­ing Hu­man, The Game) Whit­house and are di­rected by Daniel O’Hara with a guest cast list which in­cludes Paul Kaye, Mor­ven Christie and Colin McFar­lane. Oc­to­ber 16th will see the trans­mis­sion of The Girl Who Died by Jamie Mathieson and Steven Mof­fat, with its linked sec­ond episode The Woman Who Lived by for­mer Torch­wood scriptwriter Cather­ine Tre­genna air­ing on Oc­to­ber 23rd. Guest cast in­cludes Maisie ( Game of Thrones) Wil­liams, Ru­fus Hound and David Schofield. More news on sub­se­quent new se­ries episodes in next month’s Out­side the Box.

Pro­moter] Vi­sion Nine re­grets to an­nounce that the two Sym­phonic Spec­tac­u­lar shows sched­uled for Oc­to­ber 7th at Bar­clays Cen­ter have been can­celled. All Tick­et­mas­ter online and phone or­ders will au­to­mat­i­cally be re­funded. Re­main­ing re­funds will be avail­able at point of pur­chase.”

The con­certs, which were to have been hosted by Michelle (Missy/The Master) Gomez, are not presently ex­pected to be resched­uled and no fur­ther ex­pla­na­tion has been given for the can­cel­la­tion.
