The now-tra­di­tional Doc­tor Who Fes­tive spe­cial episode is cur­rently film­ing at the BBC’s Roath Lock stu­dio com­plex in Cardiff and the BBC have con­firmed that Mof­fat-era favourite Pro­fes­sor River Song, played by Alex Kingston since her first ap­pear­ance way back in 2008’s Si­lence in the Li­brary, will be re­turn­ing in the show’s eleventh con­sec­u­tive Christ­mas spe­cial. The BBC’s of­fi­cial an­nounce­ment stated: “It’s Christ­mas Day in the fu­ture and the TARDIS is parked on a snowy vil­lage street, cov­ered in ici­cles, await­ing its next ad­ven­ture. Time trav­eller River Song meets her hus­band’s new in­car­na­tion, in the form of Peter Ca­paldi, for the first time this Christ­mas.” No fur­ther in­for­ma­tion re­gard­ing the an­tic­i­pated sto­ry­line of the episode is yet avail­able but it seems likely that the words “Spoil­ers!” and “Hello Sweetie!” will fea­ture lib­er­ally through­out the script.
