mark allatt steps down in a1 trust reshuffle
After 16 years as chairman of the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust, Mark Allatt has stepped down to concentrate on ‘P2’ No. 2007 Prince of Wales. In addition to acting as the project director for the new-build Gresley ‘Mikado’, he will continue as a trustee of the ‘A1’ group, and contribute to its marketing, PR and fundraising activities - of which he has been at the forefront for 26 years. Operations Director Graeme Bunker’s role as Chairman of the Tornado Steam Traction Executive will be expanded, and he will be assisted by Lt Col. Huw Parker as deputy, and David Wright of Locomotive Maintenance Services as Running Engineer. A new trustee is Graham Langer, editor of the house journals The Communication Cord, The Tornado Telegraph and Mikado Messenger, while senior rail executive Paul Bruce has been appointed as an advisor to the trustees to lead plans for its main line servicing facility at Darlington.
