➧ GRES­LEY➧DAY➧1➧FOR➧‘GB’➧ A change-round means the Rail­way Tour­ing Com­pany’s multi-day ‘Great Bri­tain’ will now be­gin on April 29 with a pair of Gres­ley ‘Pacifics’. The first day will fea­ture Fly­ing Scotsman on the leg from King’s Cross to York, where it will hand over to Union of South Africa for the run to Ed­in­burgh. ➧ ‘BRit’➧BAck➧At➧2017➧END Bri­tan­nia is not ex­pected to re­turn to the main line un­til the lat­ter half of 2017. The ‘Stan­dard’ has been side­lined for re­place­ment of two cou­pled-wheel axles fol­low­ing prob­lems in 2015 (SR448) - and spokesman Peter Green­wood says all bear­ings on the lo­co­mo­tive will now be re­placed. ➧ kEAY➧RE­tiRES➧FROm➧HmRi Af­ter more than 20 years at Her Majesty’s Rail­way In­spec­torate, for­mer Deputy Chief In­spec­tor David Keay has re­tired - but will con­tinue to be in­volved with main line steam. En­gi­neer Mr Keay is to take up roles with both Jeremy Hosk­ing’s Lo­co­mo­tive Ser­vices Ltd and at Ty­se­ley, where he is be­com­ing a direc­tor.
