Royal Scot for NVR anniversary
The Nene Valley Railway is to host No. 46100 Royal Scot for the line’s 40th anniversary celebrations. Making its debut over the Yarwell Junction-Peterborough line, the Stanier 4-6-0 will be running on June 2, 40 years and a day since the line was reopened on June 1 1977. The inaugural passenger train was hauled by Nord De Glehn compound 4-6-0 No. 3.628, double-heading with Swedish 2-6-2T No. 1178 from Wansford to Orton Mere. Running from June 2-4, the standard bearer of the Royal Scot Locomotive & General Trust will line up alongside visiting ‘Deltic’ No. 55022 Royal Scots Grey (running as No. 55018 Ballymoss), as well as the NVR’s own resident locomotives.
