Royal Scot for NVR an­niver­sary

The Nene Val­ley Rail­way is to host No. 46100 Royal Scot for the line’s 40th an­niver­sary cel­e­bra­tions. Mak­ing its de­but over the Yar­well Junc­tion-Peter­bor­ough line, the Stanier 4-6-0 will be run­ning on June 2, 40 years and a day since the line was re­opened on June 1 1977. The in­au­gu­ral pas­sen­ger train was hauled by Nord De Glehn com­pound 4-6-0 No. 3.628, dou­ble-head­ing with Swedish 2-6-2T No. 1178 from Wans­ford to Or­ton Mere. Run­ning from June 2-4, the stan­dard bearer of the Royal Scot Lo­co­mo­tive & Gen­eral Trust will line up along­side vis­it­ing ‘Deltic’ No. 55022 Royal Scots Grey (run­ning as No. 55018 Bal­ly­moss), as well as the NVR’s own res­i­dent lo­co­mo­tives.
