61673: Ve­hi­cle Ac­cep­tance Body ap­proval has been ob­tained for the chas­sis de­sign of ‘B17’ Spirit of San­dring­ham, al­low­ing the assem­bly of the frames to take place this year. The drag­box and brake stay will be fit­ted first at the Llan­gollen Rail­way work­shops, while Wil­liam Cook of Sh­effield is to pro­duce the other cast frame stays and spring hang­ers. 84030: A cast­ing has been pro­duced for the sand­ing valve of the BR ‘2MT’ 2‑6‑2T at the Blue­bell Rail­way, while the driver’s brake valve is be­ing ma­chined. Fit­ting of the vacuum pipework con­tin­ues, while all six axle­boxes and their un­der­keeps are ready for the wheel­ing of the frames. BROWN BEAR: The run­ning plates have been fit­ted to the Grou­dle Glen Rail­way’s 2‑4‑0T. Its bot­tom half is largely complete, with the boiler to be con­structed this year, for a tar­get steam­ing date of 2018.
