IoM STATION CONVERSION
The station buildings and goods shed of the former Port St Mary station, on the Isle of Man Steam Railway, are to be converted into offices, despite concerns about reduced passenger facilities. IoM Environment Minister Geoffrey Boot approved the planning bid by Haven Homes, stating that creating a viable use for the 1898-built buildings would secure their future.
DFR VANDALS CAUGHT
Social media helped to catch youths who vandalised a signal box at Whitecroft on the Dean Forest Railway on February 13. Their photographs were posted on Facebook the same evening, and by 7.00am the next morning, the culprits had been identified. The matter is now with the local police.
