NEW GWSR BUILDINGS WILL HAVE AUTHENTIC LOOK
A new visitor centre on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway will be designed to blend in with Winchcombe station. Though of steel-framed construction, the two-storey building is to be clad in stone to give it an authentic railway ‘look’. It will provide a reception centre for special occasions such as ‘Santa Specials’. Costing £300,000 in total, it was supported by a £25,000 grant from the Aviva Community Fund. Similarly, a new messroom and training classroom for the locomotive department at Toddington, forming an extension to the goods shed, will be designed in harmony with the original GWR building. It replaces the existing messroom in a Mk 1 coach.
