Wrox­ham Broad lends a hand at raven­glass

Still strug­gling to keep its steam op­er­a­tion run­ning four years af­ter an ar­son at­tack de­stroyed its work­shop, the Raven­glass & Eskdale Rail­way hired in Bure Val­ley Rail­way 2-6-2T Wrox­ham Broad for sev­eral weeks in March. 2-8-2 River Esk is ex­pected to re­turn to traf­fic dur­ing the sea­son, and the RER Preser­va­tion So­ci­ety’s Krauss 4-6-2 No. 8457 is also ex­pected to join the fleet. RER gen­eral man­ager Trevor Stock­ton has an­nounced that he will re­tire in October. Af­ter sev­eral years of work­ing as a vol­un­teer, he joined the rail­way as a guard in 1973, later be­com­ing a driver and then main­te­nance fore­man. He took over from Steve Wood as gen­eral man­ager in 2000.
