ALTON BRIDGE NEEDS £450K

A last-ditch attempt is being made to save Alton station’s LSWR footbridge, which Network Rail plans to remove in April 2018. The Friends of Alton Station need to raise £450,000 to restore the deteriorating wooden structure, which was replaced by a new £1.7m footbridge and lifts in 2013. The Mid-Hants Railway has previously stated that it has insufficient funding and resources to take on the project (SR454).
