‘TERRIERS’ ON KESR MIXED TRAINS FOR ‘COLONEL STEPHENS 150’

A se­ries of ‘Ter­rier’-hauled mixed trains will run at the Kent & East Sus­sex Rail­way this year to mark the 150th an­niver­sary of Colonel Stephens’ birth. With the Ter­rier Trust’s No. 32678 in charge, the trains will leave Ten­ter­den at 12.45pm and 2.30pm on Satur­days May 12, June 9, Septem­ber 8 (in con­junc­tion with the ‘HopFest’ week­end) and Oc­to­ber 13. The first date is part of a ‘Colonel Stephens 150’ week­end on May 12/13. The Rother Val­ley Rail­way Sup­port­ers’ As­so­ci­a­tion is also com­mem­o­rat­ing the an­niver­sary with a model rail­way ex­hi­bi­tion on May 26/27 at Roberts­bridge Vil­lage Hall.

‘A1X’ No. 32678 shunts a vin­tage train at Ten­ter­den on July 29 2017. The fourth coach in the for­ma­tion is 1892-built Metropoli­tan Rail­way four-wheeler No. 353, on loan to the Kent & East Sus­sex Rail­way from the Lon­don Trans­port Mu­seum, which was hauled by ‘Terriers’ on the We­ston, Cleve­don & Por­tishead Rail­way.
