JULY LAUNCH FOR BAHAMAS ?
Network Rail Chairman Sir Peter Hendy has been invited to rededicate double-chimney ‘Jubilee’ Bahamas on July 27. The ceremony is planned to take place at the Bahamas Locomotive Society’s Ingrow base on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. The LMS 4-6-0 is currently being reassembled at Tyseley Locomotive Works as its Heritage Lottery Fund-backed overhaul nears completion. The BLS hopes that No. 45596 will be ready by early July for main line trial runs before returning to Yorkshire. BLS Chairman Keith Whitmore indicated to Steam Railway that a static appearance at Tyseley’s June 30/July 1 open weekend was also possible, if not in light steam. He said that Vintage Trains Ltd’s chairman Adrian Shooter will rededicate the locomotive’s Mk 2 support coach during the event.
