Thank you for helping save Gillies Hill

Stirling Observer - - SCHOOL NEWS -

It is with delight and relief that I write, following the Scottish Government’s Reporter decision to reject the planning application submitted by Patterson’s Quarries - an enormous victory for the sma’ folk, the community, the wildlife and landscape of Cambusbarron and Stirling.

The community of Cambusbarron and surrounding area came together in a powerful and purposeful way, being successful in many challenges since the threat of the reactivation of Murrayshall Quarry was realised in 2007. This challenge from Patterson’s Quarries has been, by far, the most significant, but the case the community argued, has been successfully upheld.

This is a huge victory but there remains a threat to Gillies Hill. We must remain vigilant.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the fight to Save Gillies Hill.

Susan McGill, chairperson Save Gillies Hill
