Weel kent faces drop in to centre
This spring sees Macrobert Arts Centre host a few recognisable faces from the world of television as they announce a new programme of factual entertainment live on stage.
This week audiences are invited to join an evening with Nicholas Owen (Friday May 26).
His only Scottish tour date, Nicholas will discuss his prolific time spent in the media, a career that has spanned 30 years.
From one of the first faces on television, to political broadcaster, radio host, and a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, there’s not much Nicholas hasn’t turned his hand to.
After a sell-out show in 2014, wildlife presenter and cameraman, Gordon Buchanan is back on October 1.
Best known for his hugely popular BBC series Animal Family and Me, he’ll share insights into his trips in search of weird, wild and wonderful wildlife, illustrated by his own film footage and photography.
Continuing the theme, Professor Alice Roberts (Tuesday October 17) asks the question; how do you tame wildness? From studying our ancestors, originally dependent on wild plants and animals, who began to domesticate wild species, Alice delves deep into archaeology, history and genetics to reveal the amazing stories of the animals that became our allies.
From dogs, cattle and horses to wheat, potatoes and apples, audiences will discover how taming all these species has left its mark on them - and us.
Tickets are on sale now from macrobertarts centre.org or by calling Box Office on 01786 466 666.
