Chance to join Bruce army

-

National Trust for Scotland is hosting a range of medieval-themed activities at the Battle of Bannockburn centre this summer.

Visitors have been taking part in soldier training, archery and shield making and have been bringing their experiences to life at the place where Robert the Bruce camped on the eve of the 1314 battle.

Activities will continue until the end of August, including archery, craft making and trebuchet skills as well as medieval games or becoming an archaeologist for a day.

Property manager Scott McMaster said: “It’s always a pleasure to see both adults and children taking part in the activities and experiencing a small part of the battleground and its history.

“The Battle of Bannockburn is such a large part of Scotland’s history so it can be an inspiring experience for people of all ages and a great way to spend more time outdoors.

“We still have a lot of exciting activities lined up over the summer holidays and I would encourage families to come along and join in the fun.”
