Scam fear over fake lottery letter
Police are reminding people to be wary of fraudsters after a Braehead resident was sent a suspicious letter.
A resident of Braehead Road contacted the Observer to highlight concerns he had about a letter claiming to be from the Postcode Lottery and saying he had won £325,000.
Thomas Simpson phoned the number provided but immediately hung up when he sensed something was not right and they asked for his bank details.
However, he fears scammers may have flooded the streets with letters and is keen to warn his neighbours and anyone else who may have received such a message to keep their wits about them.
Police said they had not received any specific complaints about the letter.
Inspector Donna Bryans said: “We would ask anyone who has any concerns to please report them to police.
“People should be guarded and never give out their details to anyone they don’t know is totally genuine.”
