More than 120 peo­ple helped Stir­ling Food Assem­bly cel­e­brate their first birth­day last week.

The on­line food mar­ket hosted a free tast­ing ses­sion at Stir­ling Cy­cle Hub on Thurs­day af­ter­noon to mark the mile­stone.

Those in at­ten­dance were able to try a wide range of goods – from or­ganic steak meat­balls and sour­dough bread to award win­ning cheese and cakes.

The mar­ket took more than £1700 in sales with more than 70 cus­tomers plac­ing bumper or­ders.

Stir­ling Food Assem­bly, which has gen­er­ated more than £55,000 for the area’s econ­omy in the last year, was started up by char­ity Forth En­vi­ron­ment Link to en­cour­age peo­ple to shop lo­cal.

They sold around 2800 bas­kets of pro­duce since start­ing and are now ranked among the top three food as­sem­blies in the UK.
