Ladies who lunch raise cash

Stirling Observer - - FRONT PAGE -

A whopping £3383 was raised for Cancer Research UK during a recent ladies’lunch and fashion show at Culcreuch Castle, Fintry.

Around 130 ladies enjoyed the lunch, held by Strathendrick Local Fundraising Committee, followed by a fashion show from Frox of Falkirk before a raffle brought the afternoon to a close.

This is the fourth year the committee has staged a similar event.

Dorothy Roger, CRUK Area Volunteer Manager, described the organisation’s research work and progress and to thank everyone for their support.

Since the charity receives no government funding it’s vital research can only continue thanks to public contribution.

She added:“The committee would like to extend their thanks to all the local businesses who gave time, expertise or prizes. Thanks also must go to individuals who donated items for raffle or made a financial contribution.

“The committee’s next venture will be the annual House to House Collection on April 16-22 next year. The generosity of local residents means this is the best fundraising effort of the year. Although an army of volunteers can be seen on the area’s streets more collectors are always needed – and are very welcome.”

Anyone who would like to be involved should contact the committee chair, Janet Rutherford, on 01360 449214.
