Children in Need The school will be participat­ing in this year’s Children in Need Day on Friday, November 17. It is a non-uniform day (no football colours) and will cost £1 to participat­e. There will also be a bake sale in the Hub at morning break and there will be a funfair activity at lunchtime. Staff Developmen­t Days This year’s days are on November 23 and 24. Pupils should return to school on Monday, November 27 at 8.45am. S6 pupils Any pupils with a study period who wish to leave the school during their study period should always sign out at the school office New Prelim Dates Please note that the S4-6 Prelim examinatio­ns will now take place two days later with the first day of exams on Wednesday, January 10 and the last day of exams now Tuesday, January 23. Info evening An informatio­n evening for parents/carers of S3, S4, S5 and S6 pupils to help young people to develop study skills and achieve their full potential in exams will take place at the school on Tuesday, November 21 at 7pm. Pupils are also welcome to attend. Confirm attendance by contacting the school or completing the Google form https://goo.gl/forms/ mSLskzbGlm­sX01B92. Winter fete The school’s winter fete will take place on Saturday, December 2 from 10am-2pm. There is free entry to craft stalls, vinyl record stall, books, raffle, an escape room, carnival games, a cafe and music performanc­es. Friends and family are all welcome. Senior Prom The Senior Prom will take place on Thursday, June 7 at Hotel Colessio. If any S6 pupil wishes to attend the Prom please play a £5 deposit to Miss Todd by Friday, November 17. Senior Christmas Dance Deposits for tickets are now being taken. The deposit is £10 and then another £10 will be due closer to the dance. Members of the committee will be coming round tutor group classes and taking deposits. The dance takes place on Thursday, December 7 in the Albert Halls, Stirling. Water Polo Club starts tomorrow (Thursday) after school. Please bring a swim kit. All year groups welcome. Choir On Sunday, November 19 the choir will participat­e in the Stirling Christmas Lights Switch On. They will join the parade and sing on stage at 2.15pm-2.30pm. It would be great to see pupils and parents in attendance to support the choir. you to Fr Andrew Kinghorn, Fr Mike Freyne and Fr Michael Adebanjo who celebrated the Mass. On the evening prayers were offered for all the deceased members of the school community. There was a good turn out from friends and families of the school. Thank you to local parishes for their support. Zoo trip A group of 45 S1 pupils thoroughly enjoyed the Modern Languages trip to the Spanish Day at Edinburgh Zoo. Pupils took part in Spanish activities and games recapping their prior knowledge of numbers and colours, enjoyed a guided tour of the zoo and even got to hold a few animals found in South America! Wall of Wonder The school has an exciting new developmen­t aimed at recognisin­g pupil achievemen­t on a more regular basis. Anyone in the school community - pupil, parent/ carer or staff can nominate a pupil for any achievemen­t. Achievemen­ts can be for anything amazing including charity work, sporting endeavour, acts of faith, supporting others, being inclusive to name but a few. The Pupil Council Celebratin­g Success Group decide who the most deserving nomination­s are each round and their pictures are displayed on the Wall of Wonder. Notable nomination­s for pupils who weren’t selected for the wall will also be on display in the School Atrium. Sponsored leg wax S6 pupils organised a sponsored leg wax in order to raise much needed funds for the Lasallian project volunteers last week. The painful session took place at lunchtime on Tuesday, November 7. Pupils and staff paid 50p to attend the spectacle and £2 to pull a wax strip from the boys’ legs. Everyone seemed to enjoy the session and they manages to raise around £100 towards their fund. Mock trial Legal eagles (a group of S5 and S6s) participat­ed in the mock trial at Stirling Sheriff Court on Friday, November 3. An illustriou­s legal career surely awaits for many. They had an interestin­g and educationa­l day out. Remembranc­e Service St Modan’s held a service on Friday, November 10 in remembranc­e of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation in the First and Second World Wars and other conflicts throughout the world. A two-minute silence was observed at 11am and there was a laying of wreaths in the grounds of St Modan’s whilst staff and children honoured those who lost their lives with short spoken passages and some of the children sung songs to pay their respects. \Beaconhurs­t

Open day Families are invited to a Junior School Open Morning at Beaconhurs­t later this month. Anyone interested in finding out what Beaconhurs­t has to offer can come along for a tour between 9.30am and 11.30am on Friday, November 24 – an in-service day for Stirling and Clackmanna­nshire schools. Prospectiv­e parents and pupils will have the chance to see the independen­t Bridge of Allan school in action and meet junior school teachers. The open morning will include guided tours around the junior school which last month marked its 20 year anniversar­y on the current site.
