Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares face an uphill battle if they are to qualify for the semi-finals at the Nitto ATP Finals in London.

The Dunblane/Brazilian duo lost their opening match to four-time former champions Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan who saved three set points in the first set en route to a 7-5, 6-7, 10-8 victory in one hour and 43 minutes.

Murray and Soares led 5-3 in the opening set before the brothers won four games in a row. Then in the second set, the Bryans held a 4-1 lead before their opponents hit back to take it on a tie-break.

In the Match tie-break, the Bryans opened up a 4-0 lead and although Murray and Soares saved three match points, they left their comeback too late.

The duo’s next opponents are Ivan Dodig and Marcel Granollers, who lost 7-6 6-4 to Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo, in their opener. They meet tonight (Wednesday) at 6pm.
