HUNT FOR DRIVER IN A9 HIT AND RUN TERROR
Mum and daughter in smash ordeal
Police are probing a terrifying hit-and-run incident on the A9 near Dunblane.
A mother and her young daughter escaped serious injury after a reckless motorist collided with their car on the main road – before driving off as if nothing had happened.
The driver of the grey or silver vehicle pulled out of a lay-by on the A9 and struck the Alfa Romeo being driven by a 43-year-old woman.
Her daughter was in the front passenger seat at the time of the collision while another adult was in the back of the vehicle.
After being hit the shaken driver pulled in to the hard shoulder and
alerted the police. The other driver made off without stopping.
The accident, which happened just south of Dunblane on the approach to the Keir Roundabout, left the woman’s car with significant damage to the rear of the passenger side along with the lights and a wing mirror.
While the driver was not able to identify the other vehicle, striking grey or silver scrape-marks have been left on the Alfa Romeo.
Police urged anyone who saw the collision on Tuesday to come forward.
Inspector Donna Bryans said: “This is extremely irresponsible and it could have had catastrophic consequences.
“The limit here is 70 miles an hour and there was a young child in the vehicle.
“There were no injuries here but those within the vehicle would have been left shocked and distressed.
“We would ask anyone who witnessed this incident or who was involved in the collision to come forward.”
Anyone with information can contact police on 101.
