Readers back Peter’s dog mess campaign

-

Our story about a pensioner’s unsavoury dog waste discovery prompted much chatter on the Observer Facebook page.

Peter McGuire was calling on Stirling Council to get tough on those who do not pick up after their pets after finding more than 60 piles of dog mess on his street in St Ninians.

When the story hit social media on Monday night many of our followers were keen to their thoughts.

Sandra Ferguson Fowler commented: “I’m with him. Needs addressing and if I see someone not picking up after their pooch I will name and shame.”

Tracey Toher added: “I’m sick of it too. I walk my dog every day and always have bags with me. I’ve noticed others don’t care about picking up after their dogs. The biggest problem is people allowing their dogs to roam around off-leash pooping everywhere.”

While Peter was keen to highlight how bad the problem is on Cultenhove Road, others were keen to shine a light on their area as a dog fouling hotspot.

Laura Coutts said: “Causeshare wayhead is a total disgrace too. Dunster Road, Dumyat Road and the main pavement on Causewayhead Road are vile. You spend the whole time dodging piles of c*** on the walk to school. It’s total laziness on the part of a few. When your dog does it just pick it up.”

Liz McAuley posted: “The Raploch is the same. Fed up cleaning it up outside my gate. It’s absolutely disgusting.”
