Land Rover fans and owners are set to gather in Balquhidder later this month for an annual celebration of the hardy vehicles.

The Defender Jam festival next Saturday, August 18, is a family festival set in the backdrop of Monachyle Mhor hotel and restaurant.

The idea is to bring together like-minded people who like Land Rovers while enjoying good food and drink and great music in a family atmosphere.

The festival’s reputation is growing, with last year’s 2,000 instagram followers having now grown to 10,000.

The family day and evening out and is the brainchild of DJ Martyn Henderson, combining his love of music and his passion for Land Rovers.

He said: “The idea behind this is to bring together like-minded people who like Land Rovers, good food and drink – and it’s an event they can bring the whole family to.

“It’s a relaxed day to bring together fans of Land Rover – whether they’re avid collectors, enthusiasts or just like them.

“There are no competitions or rosettes, just people with a common interest relaxing and enjoying the backdrop of Monachyle Mhor, one and a half hours away from either Glasgow or Edinburgh.”

Last year saw Series 1,2 and 3 Defenders 90, 110, 130, RRC, Discovery 1,2,3,4,5, Velar, Freelander, Evoque, Sport, Defender Ambulance, Cuthbertson recreation and more.

As well as show cars, stalls, art, models, parts, DJs and live music, there is clothing, merchandise and even a barbering from a cattle truck.

Monachyle Mhor owner Tom Lewis has applied to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park for a waiving of camping byelaws at land next to the hotel. He is asking for permission for up to 100 tents to be allowed on the site for one night.

Advance tickets are £10 and camping tickets are £20 per person including admission.

General admission tickets cost £12 on the day. Caravans and trailers are not permitted due to single track roads.

Kids (under-16s) go free, including for camping with accompanying adults.

You can book a camping spot or just turn up on the day.

There will be a late breakfast barbeque for those who stay over, whether that be in Monachyle Mhor, camping (no caravans) or at nearby sister motel Mhor 84.
