Linkroad could stayopen

Stirling Observer - - FRONT PAGE -

A Stirling link road which was introduced to reduce the impact of two bridge replacements could be here to stay.

The route between Players Road and Forthside Way was opened to one-way traffic in 2013 as work got underway on building new Shore Road bridge.

Fears of traffic gridlock during work to replace the Kerse Road bridge led to the widening of the link and its opening to two-way traffic.

Council officials had insisted use of the road was a temporary measure.

But this week a spokesperson said: “The route has operated well during this period, providing a vital link between Springkerse, Forthside and the city centre.

“The council is currently reviewing this and considering retaining this link on a permanent basis.”
