Temperature ‘normal for time of year’
Despite some showers in the middle of the week it was drier than recent weeks in what turned out though to be an average Scottish summer week, writes SCOTT McLEAN.
The temperature was around normal for this time of year and disappointingly failed to reach 20 Centigrade, although there were some sunny intervals. It was also a blustery week making it feel even cooler.
The maximum temperature was 19.3 Centigrade on Thursday, July 9, with a lowest of 9.7 Centigrade on Monday, July 6.
The maximum daily rainfall was 8.13mm on Sunday, July 5, for a weekly total of 17.52mm.
Wind speeds topped 35mph on Sunday, July 5.
This week is set to be very similar to last week with the temperature still struggling to climb above 20 Centigrade but into the weekend we could see the temperature increase and reach the low twenties. Most days will be rather cloudy with just a few sunny intervals and there will also be the risk of a few light showers. Wind will generally be light but the breeze will increase at times during the week. There is the possibility though that the showers could turn more prolonged and of the wind turning stronger towards the end of the week.
The earliest sunrise will be at 5am, with the latest sunset at 9.43pm.
Did You know: The temperature in the first two weeks of July has failed to rise above 20 Centigrade while last year in July 2019 we recorded a top temperature of 30.8 Centigrade in what was one of the rare occasions when our Stirling temperature reached the thirties.
